1980 Boys Cross Country

Andy Haney finished second in the state meet, as Mentor finished fourth in Ohio.  Haney, who went to Cleveland State in a running scholarship, set three all-time News Herald records of 9:11.0 for 3200 meters (2 Miles) that spring.  The cross country varsity included Andy and Marty Haney, Dave Brown, Scott Sherman and Dave Ferre of memorial and Norm Hoovier of Ridge who had an outstanding collegiate career at Ohio Northern University.
