RECAP:
8/28/06 University Meet-  The boys took 2nd behind Chardon, ranked 3rd in the state.  Leading the pack was senior John Distler with a time of 17:33.

9/2/06  Mentor Invitaional- At our home meet, the boys team took a first place finish this weekend dominating the course at Garfield park.  All 7 varsity runners were under 18:00.

9/23/06 Cloverleaf--The boys took 2nd place in a tough competition, only losing to Hoover by 2 points, which is ranked 6th in the state.  We had 3 boys uner 17 minutes, Distler 16:46, Phyfer 16:46 & Schulz 16:55.  

9/29/06 Gilmour Invitational- After feeling slighted by the state poll, the Mentor boys felt they had more to prove on a course that was more that a minute 20 seconds slow.  The boys were motivated that St. Ignatius was in the race.  We are getting stronger while other teams arent.  We had 6 runners in the top 10, finishing with 21 points.  This is their 5th win in 6 weeks.

State rankings- 9th

10/7/06 Strongsville-  The boys had another successful race, taking 2nd place by 7 points.  It's a tough meet with 5 state ranked teams competing. Distler led the way running 16:14, a PR. The top 5 were under 17:00.

10/14/06--LEL  The boys win the LEL meet, their 6th win this year.  They put 7 runners in the top 11 spots to beat Lakewood, who was runner up.

10/28/06--3rd Place at the Regional meet in the mud, snow, sleet, rain, hail.....

LEL CHAMPS!!!

Mentor Boy's win LEL meet and 6th meet of season Saturday putting 7 runners in the 
top 11 spots to beat Lakewood who was runner up. Mentor was led by Sophomore 
Steven Schulz 16:51 in 3rd place, John Distler 16:52 in 4th, Connor Phyfer 17:
02 in 6th, Micah Scott 17:08 in 7th, Jimmy Hudd 17:11 in 8th, Kenny Janosko 17:
18 in 9th and David Suhan 17:28 in 11th place. The Cardinals put seven runners 
in front of Lakewood's number 3 man to easily win the LEL. The boys worked on 
bringing the pack together even tighter in preparing for the up coming District 
meet. This is the Cardinals second consecutive LEL title.
