Shore Middle School Coach:  Ron Wood

Coach Wood is entering his 23rd year teaching and coaching at Shore.  Coach Wood’s coaching experience includes one year as Men’s tennis coach at Cleveland State University, 8 years as Boys’ Varsity tennis coach at Mentor High, and 5 years as girls’ JV tennis coach at Mentor High.

Coach Wood has also coached 9th grade girls’ basketball at Shore for 18 years, 9th grade football for 10 years, 7th/8th grade football for 3 years, 7th and 8th grade girls’ and boys’ basketball for 3 years, and track for 3 years.

This is his 3rd season coaching cross country, and he has really learned to love this challenging, yet very satisfying sport.  He has thoroughly enjoyed working with all of his runners, and the high school staff has been extremely supportive.  Coach Wood encourages his runners to keep running as they head to the high school because the experience only gets better.

In his summers, Coach Wood has served as the head tennis professional at Lakewood Country Club for 26 years.  A graduate of Cleveland State, where he lettered in tennis for 4 years and earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, Coach Wood most enjoys his family time and traveling on vacation with his wife Karin, married 21 years, son Ryan, 20 years old, and daughter Shannon, 13 years old.
