Time Trials at Penitentiary Glen

8.14.18 ~ Kirtland, Ohio
Earlier this week, the Mentor Cross Country came rolling into their season on a high note in Time Trials held at Penitentiary Glen in Kirtland. That afternoon, many breakout performances happened which looked to set the team up for a very successful season. Among them, freshman Sam Lynch had a breakout performance putting up a time of 19:43. Dominic Ricco also stood out, with a time of 17:43, among only two other team members that broke the 18 minute barrier that day. George Clements Invitational

8.25.18 ~ Hunting Valley, Ohio
This past weekend, the Mentor Cross Country boys team traveled to University Schools hoping to walk away with encouraging results. As we had hoped, the meet was nothing short of encouraging as many runners came out to show their full potential. Among them, sophomore, Keaton Hahn came out with a breakthrough performance of 18:42, smashing his previous personal best. Also a sophomore, Josh Luboski had a breakthrough performance, running a 20:29, crushing his time at War on the Shore by nearly two minutes. Overall on the guys side, 40 out of 49 guys ran a personal best that day which is setting the team up for a very successful and encouraging season. Spartan Invitational

9.15.18 ~ Boardman, Ohio
On September 15, the Cross Country team traveled to Boardman High School to take part in annual the Spartan Invitational and set its sights on some impressive performances. While the course and weather conditions proved to play a big effect on many of our runner’s races, some outstanding performances still came out of the meet. Preston Hove, Freshman, led the boys open team that day with a time of 19:42 and landing a spot at number eight in the entire boys open race. Also setting a personal best that day was Michael Bass, Senior, with a time of 26:08. Overall, the course proved to be a challenging day for the team but we look forward to hopefully bouncing back in a big way come the Cloverleaf Invitational.

Cloverleaf Invitational

9.22.18 ~ Lodi, Ohio
On September 22, all of the boys teams competed on the hilly Cloverleaf Invitational course. Everyone did exceptionally well as the varsity boys took 5th place among considerable competition. One runner who stood out was Sophomore Cole Rigsby, placing 3rd on the team with a time of 17:16. In the Boys Veterans race, Junior Jason Mauser ran for a life time PR of 17:59 to break 18 minutes for the first time ever. Finally in the Boys Newcomers race Freshman Connor Rus finished 4th overall with a time of 18:38. Cloverleaf was an overall success and a positive step forward towards the upcoming weeks!

On September 22, the Mentor Cross Country team took its sights on a huge bounce back at the 2018 Cloverleaf Invitational. Overall, the team showed some very impressive performances as we turn the calendar to the later part of the season. Austin Roose, Junior, posted an incredible time of 29:31, breaking 30 minutes for the first time this season! Charlie Eckles, Freshman, ran an impressive time to of 20:58, a new personal best for him also! The boys teams did a tremendous job in terms of placing against some very tough competition. U Wanna Come Back (JV Meet)

9.29.18 ~ Madison, Ohio
On September 29, our team came rolling in with some very impressive showings happening both at the Madison Invitational and Midwest Meet of Champions. Both courses proved to run very fast that day which only set the stage for the encouraging outcomes that would come. Kaden Wandersleben, Sophomore, posted an impressive personal best at Madison by running a 20:40. Jake Pensky, Junior, ran at Midwest that day and posted an incredible time of 18:09. Matthew Perry, Junior, led the boys team in at Madison with a new lifetime personal record of 18:14. As we look into our final races of the season, it clearly looks like we have set ourselves up for a very strong finish. Race results can found on the U Wanna Come Back race page.

Midwest Meet of Champions (Varsity Meet)

9.9.18 ~ Hilliard, Ohio
On September 29, our team came rolling in with some very impressive showings happening both at the Madison Invitational and Midwest Meet of Champions. Both courses proved to run very fast that day which only set the stage for the encouraging outcomes that would come. APA XC Invitational (Andrews Osborne)

10.6.18 ~ Willoughby, Ohio
On October 6, the Mentor boys Cross Country team came in looking for a win at Andrews Osborne, and a win we got! Overall, the boys open and varsity both came in first for their races, along with some impressive performances. Randy Saley, Freshman, ran a time of 19:11 which is a new personal best for him. Ben Nagle, on the journey back from an injury came out with an impressive season personal record of 18:36 at the meet that day. Andrew Kobasko, Junior, ran a new PR that day with a time of 17:43 and led the boys open team the entire way. These impressive performances, along with many others, led to our team’s being able to come out on top. Go Cards!
