A look back into Mentor girls history...

Although a few girls ran as individuals prior to 1981, girls did not have a recognized team until the 1981 cross country season.  The Greater Cleveland Conference did not officially recognize a conference champion until 1984 when Mentor won the first "official" crown.  Prior to that, Mentor had been the unofficial champion.  The early years found teams to be dominant over other programs struggling to establish their teams.  Since 1984, not only has Mentor continued to be competitive as other schools programs have improved, but the number of runners on the team has increased over the years too.  Mentor girls can look with pride on their tradition of success in cross country.
