His surge pulled the rest of the Cardinals ahead as well to get them to the state meet. The Cardinals look to improve on their 13th place finish from last season … Chardon senior Luke Danison has an outside shot at All-Ohio honors as he comes in as the 49th seed.

What to watch: Loveland comes in as the clear team favorite, as they received all of the first-place votes in the final OACTCC poll. Mentor has an outside shot at a top 10 team finish, but if Ada Sabo, Maddi Clark, Casey Wachhaus and Marina Roeder work well like they did at regionals, the Cardinals will have a good shot. … The individual race features eight runners that have sub 18 minute times on the season. One of those is Mentor junior Savannah Dennison. She has yet to finish outside of the top five this season, and looks to improve on her 16th place performance from last year’s state meet.
